The Dajjal's Efforts to Torment the Mahdi

In Abu Said Al-Hudri's narration, the Messenger of Allah said: When the Dajjal appears one of the believers (the Mahdi) will move to oppose him. Many armed men, armed men engaged in surveillance in the Dajjal's centers of power, will oppose that believer. And they will ask him, "Where do you intend to go?" And he will say, "I intend to go against that person (the Dajjal)." The supporters of the Dajjal will say, "Do you not believe in our Lord?" And that person will say, "There is no secrecy in our Lord." The others will say, "Kill him: At that, some of the supporters will say to the others, "Has not your Lord forbidden you to kill anyone without His permission?" They will then take him to the Dajjal.
The Mahdism and the Imamiya, 37

The Dajjal will not wish to slay the Mahdi who opposes his ideas, but will distress and torment him. He will first seek to neutralize him by blackening his name. Then, seeing that he has been unsuccessful in that, he will then distance him from other people, casting him away, in the words of the hadith.

The author of "The Mahdism and the the Imamiya" goes on to say in his account:
In addition, he will imagine that by casting him into a dungeon, he has thrown him into the flames. But he has actually cast him into Paradise. Because even if a believer is in Hell, his heart is in Paradise. Mehmed Sofuošlu, translator of the Muslim, says that Paradise here is an earthly garden. This means that the Dajjal will cast the Mahdi into the wilderness, but that the places he finds himself in will be vineyards. (The Mahdism and the Imamiya 40)
